If Y'all Weren't Here, I'd Be Crying Tour · Post Malone 2023

July 15th, 2023 was my fourth time seeing Post Malone live, and I thought it was the best live performance he has ever put on. Let me start by telling you I'm a bit biased because I believe that Austin is his best album. This was his first tour he brought a full band with him, which sounded incredible. To top it off, this is his first tour taking place at amphitheaters and I'll tell you all about my experience at the Alpine in East Troy, Wisconsin, as we go. But for now, let's talk about the show.

I was in the front row. In front of me there was a pit, but if I'm being honest I think I'm a little too old for the pit, but also a little too enthusiastic to be seated so I'm not sure where to go at concerts anymore.
I also had VIP so I was able to skip the line to get in, which was worth the upgrade alone, and I got a VIP tee-shirt. Once I got into the venue, I got a drink in a shaker cup branded with the name of the tour (after a fluke where I bought the drink that didn't come with the shaker because it wasn't advertised), and bought his yellow tour tee-shirt which I have worn almost every day since, and his tour poster that is hanging behind me during all of my work meetings.

My date on the tour happened before the album released. He had already released Chemical as a single and the night before he dropped Overdrive, but he played Enough is Enough live and it was our first time hearing it and maybe my most memorable concert experience of his to date. Austin is the type of album that needs a full band where his previous four albums can make do with a backing track.
He was also grateful, but every time I have seen him he's overflowing with gratitude. It seems like he doesn't know how popular he is and what an impact he's making, but I hope he does because it's such a vast and powerful presence he brings to the music community.

We're reached the segment where I bitch about how much I hated something: sometimes it's the people, sometimes it's the vibes, but today it's the venue.
The parking lot has one way in and one way out, which was fine coming in, but it took me about two hours to even move my car from the spot that I parked in after the show bc everyone was funneling out of one exit.
Once I got in and parked, I had to wait in line that was about an hour and a half before I realized I could skip because I had VIP. But, during my wait in this line, I discovered people come early and tailgate. There are rows of drinking buses designed to get people to and from the venue safely, but that means so many people are shitfaced drunk by the time you get into the venue that it's almost impossible to navigate. While I was in line for my drink, a girl ran into me and said, "You shouldn't run into people, it's really rude."

In the winter, the venue is a ski resort. So, if you are in the front row or the pit, you have to hike all the way up at the end of the night. It was a bizarre venue for him to choose, and I know Noah Kahan is there next summer, so good luck to all of my Stick Season girlies. You'll have a lot of fun, but you'll also need to put on your patient pants.

Overall, solid 8/10 evening with points off for only the venue. Maybe my favorite Post Malone show to date. I'll leave his setlist below.
