Monthly Recap - March 2023

March felt like the month I couldn't quite get it together. But, as I type this out, the sun is finally (literally) shining through and we've got blue skies again and I'm feeling a change of pace on the horizon. I feel like I'm finally refueling after a few weeks of running on E and I'm so grateful for that.

I spent a lot of March outside, less so towards the end of the month. This photo is from a park near my house where I walk laps around their track, rack up my Spotify listening, and catch as many Pokemon as I can as Jorge has reignited my love for PoGo.
Living in the suburbs, most of my walks take place around neighborhoods or around the same couple of parks nearby. When it comes to looking at places to move to, this is something in the back of my mind as I love to be outside and I would love to have more variety for daily walks.

Next up was this trip to Ikea and I just went to Ikea for the first time within the last year. This wasn't my first time, but every time makes me think of 500 Days of Summer. I ended up purchasing a duvet that I love, though it doesn't quite match my room, and I almost brought this mirror home because it made me laugh.

On one of the nights where we didn't have a lot going on, we decided to take about an hour or so drive south to Wally's, which is a smaller-scale version of Buc-ees (which Jorge is obsessed with.) It's a gas station with a huge shop inside where they make some of their own food/snacks. You can buy just about any souvenir you can think of. We're both big fans of road trips because we get to play silly car games and see new things so any chance to take a longer driving trip is welcome.

On the topic of short lil road trips, we took a drive out to the Albanese factory and store in Merrillville, IN. Probably my favorite candy of all time is chocolate covered gummy bears and I have only been able to find them in movie theater boxes at the Dollar Tree, but now I can buy them by the pound and the quality is infinitely better.
I spent way less than I anticipated to, and you're paying for quality so it's worth it to me. When you order by the pound, they offered us a sample of what we were ordering which was a treat. They had a ton of super cute gifts merchandised for Easter. Plus, over the counter where you can order by the pound, you can see into the factory which is kind of cool.

To wrap up the month, my cousin and I went to see the SpongeBob Musical at a community theater and it was so cute! It radiated community theater, but it was still a lot of fun and the kids behind us had me cracking up. We were maybe 15 minutes into the show and one of them goes, "This is the longest show EVER." They were criticizing it almost the entire time, but they're just kids and it was pretty funny.
I've only ever seen one other show at the this theater and it was maybe 15 years ago (what?), but I enjoyed it a lot and when I saw they were doing SpongeBob, I jumped on it for us.

A few of the downers that we're leaving behind in March:
· Jumping through hoops for a new phone. My iPhone 11 was stuck in a force reboot and luckily I had insurance so I was able to get a new iPhone 11. Also, with my phone company, I was able to trade-in my 11 and upgrade for free which was why I needed to go through my insurance in the first place because the phone needed to turn on to be eligible for trade-in. BUT, it's all figured out and I've got the lilac iPhone 14.

· ANTS. In the beginning of March, we found tiny baby ants in the dining room, living room, bathroom, and kitchen. We've finally had someone out to spray for them and it's not a huge deal because we get them every year. However, they are now popping up in the one room we didn't have sprayed so we're waiting out the few weeks that it takes the ant bait/spray to settle. But, it's been so frustrating because it would be every morning we'd see clusters of them somewhere. I felt like when Mr. Sir was hunting lizards in Holes.

· So many sad grandma moments. For those who don't know, I lost my grandma back in 2015 and she was my best friend. With mother's day looming, there are several Grandma bits around the shops and I get all choked up every where I go. Jorge and I have also been working on cleaning out the house in general and re-packing some things up and one box we found contained my high school graduation book that my family signed and my confirmation letters from the the retreat we went on and in both of those my grandma tells me that I am her moon and her stars. That phrasing has been on my mind so heavy and I am in some strange state of grief right now that I think will pass shortly after Mother's Day.

We can only be on the up and up for the month of April and I'm really looking forward to it.
