This is going to be a show that I am buzzing about for months.
I have n e v e r seen somebody put on a show like Lorde. This was my first time at a show that was just one person singing as opposed to a full band since I saw JT & Pink in 2009 (yes, it was just as great as it sounds.)
It truly was just her on the stage, until she chose to add elegant, contemporary dancers to compliment her songs. Not to mention her use of lighting and bass to accentuate the individuality and emotion behind each song. It was beautiful.
There was a point where she sat on the stage and spoke to everybody as though we were intimate friends. She talked about how Lollapalooza last year was rained out the year she was supposed to perform, and how she hasn't created anything in a little while so she was convinced her mom bribed everybody to come see her. She's grounded, humble, and also beautiful and filled with magic.
If I could see her 5,000 more times, I would do it in a heartbeat. She's won a special space in my heart, and has become an artist I will not miss any other time she is in town. If you have the chance, please go see her live in a city near you. The atmosphere of the show will leave you speechless, your heart full, and all of your senses craving more.
